This well-established Kamakura sculpture store is beside the torii of Tsurugaoka Hachimangu. Kamakura sculptures are said to have began 700 years ago when Zen Buddhism came over from China to Kamakura, then Keiha Buddhist monks from Nara began to make Buddhist sculptures and furnishings for Zen Buddhist temples. The Goto family was the head of Hakkodo and were descendants of Buddhist monks. Works produced with traditional techniques and designs include small mirrors (6,500 yen and above), confectionery dishes (12,000 yen and above), and trays (22,000 yen and above). While protecting its style and beauty, the gloss and flavor increase as you use it.
