This temple is from the Jodo sect. Nitta Yoshisada assisted in the overthrow of the shogunate in the “Attack of Kamakura”, and the temple became the stronghold. After the downfall of the shogunate, Hojo Takatoki and his family was killed in action and to mourn their death, Yoshisada is said to have built the temple. The temple gate and main temple building is written as “Uchi Urayama” and “Kuhonji” are copies of Yoshisada’s brush. In addition to preserving handwritten pictures, the worshiped Amida Tathagata statue was designated as an important cultural property of the city.
