Hashirimizu Shrine
This shrine worships Yamato Takeru (legendary prince of the Yamato dynasty) and Princess Ototachibana. Legends associated with the Hashirimizu Shrine include the “Kojiki (Japan’s oldest historical record)” and the “Nihon-shoki (the oldest chronicles of Japan)”. On the shrine grounds you can see a memorial monument engraved with the last song written by Princess Ototachibana and a stone monument that displays the divine virtues of the love between Yamato Takeru and Princess Ototachibana. In addition, every October, the shrine parishioner and the town officials participate in the ceremony of this regularly held festival.
