Hakushu Kitahara is a poet who loved Miura Misaki, and it is said that his stay in Misaki brought an important turning point in Hakushu literature. It can also be seen that Hakushu allowed the construction of a monument in his lifetime only in Jogashima and Kentoji. The footprints left by Shiraaki in the town of Miura, such as introducing Jogashima to the whole country, are still in full bloom in people’s hearts.

The Misaki Hakushu Festival is held to honor the great achievements of Hakushu for a long time and to commemorate Hakushu.
 

1. Monument festival
Date and time: Tuesday, July 12, 2022 10: 00-11: 00 (cancelled in case of rain)
Location: Under the Jogashima Bridge, in front of the Hakushu poetry monument
Contents: Ceremony to commemorate Hakushu Kitahara. In addition to offering flowers, songs related to Shiraaki by the Miura City Chorus Federation will be performed.
Access: Take a bus from Keihin Kyuko Misakiguchi Station and get off at the “Hakushuhi Mae” bus stop.
 

2. Japanese pampas grass festival, Hakushu stamp rally
Date and time: Saturday, September 24, 2022 10:00
Location: Jogashima No. 2 Parking Lot (Jogashima, Miura City)
Transportation: Get off at Jogashima bus stop
 

3. The route of the “Hakushu Literature Course” from the port
Date and time: Sunday, October 2, 2022 16:00
Location: Around Misaki Port (undecided)
Transportation: Get off at Misaki Port bus stop.
 

4. Hakushu Special Exhibition
Date and time: November 1st (Tuesday) to November 30th (Wednesday), 2022
Location: Hakushu Memorial Hall (374-1, Jogashima, Misakimachi, Miura City)
Transportation: Get off at the bus stop in front of Hakushuhi Mae.
 

5. Haiku competition
Date and time: Thursday, November 3, 2022 13:00
Location: Jogashima Residents Center (411 Jogashima, Misakimachi, Miura City)
Transportation: Get off at the bus stop in front of Hakushuhi Mae
