RECOMMEND
Easily accessible in about an hour from central Tokyo by train or car, the Miura Peninsula offers not only gourmet dining and leisure activities, but also a wide variety of seaside viewpoints, walking trails, and marine sports to suit your style.
Here, we’ll introduce some spots and activities where you can fully enjoy your time on the Miura Peninsula while soaking up the refreshing sea breeze.
■ Fully Enjoy the Sea, Sky, and Nature of Miura on an Open-Top Bus
One of the best ways to make your time in Miura even more enjoyable is the open-top bus. With no roof over the second floor, you can soak in the liberating atmosphere and admire the beautiful scenery unique to the Miura Peninsula. This special bus departs three times a day from Keikyu Miurakaigan Station.
Why not take in Miura’s breathtaking views while feeling the sea breeze?
You can also ride the bus using the facility vouchers included in the “Misaki Maguro Ticket” or “Miura Peninsula Marugoto Ticket,” which combine train and bus fare with meal coupons. Be sure to check the departure times in advance and make a reservation, or, on the day of your visit, you can register for boarding at the information office in front of Miurakaigan Station.

■ Savor Miura’s Flavors at a Seaside Café
Just a 5-minute walk from Miurakaigan Station, BAYSIDE CAFÉ sits along the Miura coastline, offering local specialties with a view of the ocean.
If you’d like to enjoy tuna from Misaki Port—one of Japan’s leading tuna fishing ports—we recommend the “Misaki Maguro Tartar.”
For drinks, how about choosing from the three varieties of “Miura Coast Sky-Blue Soda” which is inspired by the changing times of the sea at Miura throughout the day?
In addition, the café offers a wide range of sweets, foods, and drinks that can only be enjoyed here, so you can match your choice to your mood while soaking in the refreshing seaside atmosphere.
* BAYSIDE CAFÉ accepts the Misaki Maguro Ticket.

■ Experience a Variety of Activities on the Spacious Miura Beach
Right in front of the café lies Miura Beach. Thanks to its convenient location near the station, it attracts many families and beachgoers every summer.
On the beach, you’ll find stage performances, yoga, and sports events, as well as evening attractions such as lighting displays and fireworks festivals.
No matter the season, you can also catch glimpses of different marine sports, making even a casual stroll along the shore a refreshing experience unlike everyday life.

About a 15-minute bike ride from Miura Coast—or an 8-minute walk from Keikyu YRP Nobi Station—Nobi Coast offers sweeping ocean views, with the Boso Peninsula visible across the bay on clear days. Along the shoreline, you’ll find photo spots such as art objects, a giant swing, and even a vending machine–shaped installation, all perfect for taking pictures with the sea and sky as your backdrop. ■ Breathtaking Views from Tsurugizaki Lighthouse
Selected as one of the “50 Scenic Spots of Kanagawa,” Tsurugizaki Lighthouse stands at the southeastern tip of the Miura Peninsula. It was the seventh Western-style lighthouse to be lit in Japan. After being rebuilt following the Great Kanto Earthquake, the current structure has now stood for over 100 years.
With the refreshing sea breeze on your face, the spectacular view of the ocean from this elevated spot is sure to lift your spirits. Since the Miura Peninsula is home to many distinctive lighthouses, it’s also a great choice for those who enjoy lighthouse tours.
Access to Tsurugizaki Lighthouse is about a 15-minute walk from the Keikyu Bus stop “Tsurugisaki.” As buses are infrequent, renting a bicycle is recommended.

■ Stroll Through Koajiro Forest, a Precious Natural Environment
A perfect place to take a leisurely walk while immersing yourself in Miura’s natural beauty.
Koajiro Forest is said to be the only place in the Kanto and Tokai regions where an entire watershed—including forest, river, wetlands, and tidal flats—remains intact in its natural state. Home to over 2,000 species, this remarkable forest is a treasure trove of biodiversity.
The green space covers about 70 hectares, with a river roughly 1 km long flowing from its source in the forest to the sea, forming wetlands and tidal flats along the way. The watershed supports a wide variety of plants and animals, including rare species such as the red-clawed crab.
The forest has three entrances, with walking trails and observation terraces, as well as the Chiromantes haematocheir Square near the river mouth that leads to the tidal flats.
To help preserve this environment, which has been protected for many years by the local community, visitors are asked to follow rules and precautions. From Keikyu Misakiguchi Station, take a bus and get off at the “Hikibashi” stop. It’s just a 5-minute walk from there.

■ Feel the Sea Breeze and Set Sail! Enjoy a Cruise and Underwater Viewing
If you’ve come to the sea, why not hop on a sightseeing boat you can only experience here?
From Misaki Port, two types of cruises are available: the Jogashima Ferry “Sanshiro,” which offers a fun round-trip ride, and the “Nijiirosakana ship,” which lets you observe the underwater world.
One of the destinations of the Jogashima Ferry “Sanshiro” is Jogashima sea Fishing Pond J’s Fishing, a great spot for those who want to enjoy fishing.
The Nijiirosakana ship stops at underwater viewing points where fish gather. From the observation room in the lower deck, you can watch fish swimming vividly right before your eyes, while on deck you can enjoy feeding the fish and seabirds.
Both cruises depart about 1–2 times per hour from the pier right next to the direct-from-producers market “Urari,” returning to the starting point. The final departures are in the 3:00 p.m. hour, so be sure to check the destination and departure times before boarding.

■ Ways to Enjoy the Urari Direct-from-Farm Center and the Misaki Port Area
At Urari, you’ll find a wide selection of fresh local products from the Miura region, including the “Fish Hall” and the “Vegetable Hall.” It’s the perfect spot not only to pick up ingredients for home but also to find souvenirs. The Fish Hall stays cool and lively, so you can enjoy browsing its offerings any time you visit.

Urari also offers a plaza where you can enjoy BBQ, as well as a convenient rental cycle port for exploring the surrounding area in your own style. Nearby, you’ll find a variety of eateries such as Misaki-kan Honten, MISAKI DONUTS, and Misaki Fish Market Cafeteria, making it a great place for sampling Miura’s local flavors on a walking tour.
The KEIKYU OPEN TOP BUS MIURA, introduced earlier, has stops at Urari, and regular buses to Keikyu Misakiguchi Station also depart from the nearby “Misaki Port” bus stop. If you use the Urari rental cycles, you can even return them at Misakiguchi Station.
How about it? A day on the Miura Peninsula offers activities you can only experience here—take a bus or boat while enjoying the refreshing sea breeze, savor fresh seafood, and admire breathtaking views while taking photos. Enjoy the area in whatever style suits you best.
