Starting this year, sea transportation in SHONAN (Kanagawa Sea Ride) is now available. Did you know you can now travel to places like Enoshima, Oiso, Zushi, Hayama, and other destinations using a sea taxi?
This time, we’re excited to introduce a boat trip on the SHONAN sea taxi to Hayama and Enoshima.
Departing from Hayama Marina
We had the opportunity to experience a ride on the sea taxi departing from Hayama Marina. The boat, Falcon, used for the sea taxi has a capacity of 10 passengers. There are seats inside the boat, at the rear, and even in front of the upper cockpit, where you can enjoy the sea breeze and stunning ocean views from your favorite spot.
After securely fastening a life jacket around your waist, it's time to set sail.
The journey from Hayama to Enoshima takes about 30 minutes.
A Refreshing Experience on the Sea
As the boat begins to move, you can feel the waves and sea breeze, and your spirits start to rise. The boat slowly navigates through the marina, and as you pass the breakwater, the entire SHONAN seascape unfolds before you.
Along the coast, you can see people enjoying marine sports like yachting, windsurfing, and SUP (stand-up paddleboarding). As the boat moves forward, you'll also catch glimpses of the torii gate on Najima Island in Sagami Bay and the Hayama Lighthouse.
The boat gradually picks up speed, and from the seats at the rear, you can fully immerse yourself in the sea breeze. The waves on the ocean surface are soothing, and from the outer seats, you can occasionally feel the splash of the waves, experiencing a refreshing sensation that's different from everyday life.
The sea was very calm on the day we boarded, with minimal boat rocking, allowing us to enjoy the expansive ocean views. On clear days, you can even see Mount Fuji from the boat.
This setting makes you want to capture the moment in a commemorative photo.
As the boat continued, we could observe the marine sports events taking place in the SHONAN sea, large vessels slowly making their way offshore, and the view of the distant coastline. Since it was a weekend during the tourist season, the roads along SHONAN’s coast appeared to be quite congested. However, traveling by sea taxi was effortless, so we avoided traffic and enjoyed a very refreshing time during our precious holiday.
Arriving at Enoshima by Sea Taxi
The boat is finally approaching Enoshima. As it moves forward, Enoshima comes closer into view. The SHONAN Port (SHONAN Enoshima Pier), where the sea taxi arrives, is located near the Shonan Port Lighthouse, close to the tip of Enoshima. After disembarking, you can take your time enjoying the view of the SHONAN sea from the Enoshima breakwater.
The sea taxi operates on a shared-ride basis, connecting SHONAN Port (SHONAN Enoshima Pier) with Zushi (Riviera Zushi Marina), Hayama (Hayama Marina), and Oiso Port. (Reservations are required in advance.)
*Additionally, there are private sea taxi services available for destinations such as Hayama Port, Shonan Sunnyside Marina, Shonan Marina, Oiso Port, and around Enoshima, with various charter cruise plans also available.
On Enoshima Island, you can explore the island, visit shrines, and savor fresh local produce and regional gourmet foods, including shirasu (whitebait). From Shonan Port, where the boat arrives, it takes about 10 to 15 minutes on foot to reach various areas of the island.
Surrounded by the sea, Enoshima offers the chance to enjoy seafood and explore the island in a relaxed and free-spirited way. Why not spend some leisurely time here in your preferred style?
This time, we visited the pudding shop & café MARLOWE at Hayama Marina, which had caught our attention even before setting sail.
After exploring Enoshima, we returned to Hayama Marina by sea taxi to enjoy their famous pudding.
Inside the shop, where sea and boat enthusiasts gather, the atmosphere is calm and relaxing. It offers delicious food, including popular homemade baked pudding, as well as carefully selected drinks and light meals.
This time, we enjoyed trying many varieties of their famous pudding.
In addition to indoor seating, there is also a terrace where you can enjoy views of the marina. It's a great spot to share your impressions of the sea and the photos you've taken, making for a pleasant and enjoyable time. Within Hayama Marina, there are also other restaurants offering a variety of Japanese, Western, and Chinese dishes.
A boat trip on a sea taxi promises to be a memorable experience, offering refreshing moments on the ocean, leisurely strolls, local gourmet foods, and opportunities for memorable photos.
This season, why not take a sea taxi and enjoy a unique and refreshing experience on the ocean?
