Departing from Misaki Port to the sea

From Misakiguchi Station on the Keikyu Line, take a bus or rent a bicycle to Misaki Port.
The boat departs from the boarding area right next to the direct-to-market center “Urari” at Misaki Port.

The boat “Nijiiro Sakana-go” is a semi-submersible sightseeing boat where you can easily enjoy a walk underwater. The boat departs from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. every day, so check the time at the ticket office and purchase your boarding ticket. The boarding time is approximately 40 minutes.
The boat departs from Misaki Port, passes under the Jogashima Ohashi Bridge, and sets out into the ocean, admiring the scenery such as the lighthouse on Jogashima on the opposite shore. On clear days, you can see the Boso Peninsula in the distance.

The boat will stop when it reaches an underwater viewing spot where you can find fish. You can feed the fish and birds on the upper level of the boat and observe them from above.
If you move to the observation room on the lower level of the boat, you can see many fish swimming in the sea. You can see the lively fish up close.

Sometimes birds (black-tailed gulls and black kites) run parallel to the boat. Throw bait from your boat and watch the birds quickly catch it. Bait can be purchased on board.
Afterwards, head to Misaki Port and return to the boarding area while admiring the cityscape of Misaki, completing your approximately 40-minute cruise. This is a recommended activity that is easy to enjoy and allows you to interact with fish and birds.

Enjoy Misaki gourmet food

Exhilarating cycling in Misaki

If you're traveling around Misaki, why not get on a bicycle and enjoy the sea and nature while feeling the sea breeze? "Miura Bicycle Rental" is a convenient service that allows you to rent bicycles at nearby stations and facilities. Moreover, since it is an electric bicycle, it is comfortable to move around Misaki, which has many slopes.

There are many cycling courses on the Miura Peninsula, and there are milestones (monuments for commemorative photos) and observation decks at each spot, so you can enjoy cycling along with visiting spots with spectacular views of the ocean.

Relax in an old folk house

This time, we will introduce Misaki-juku, a travel inn on the Miura Peninsula that just opened in 2022.
This is an accommodation facility that has been renovated from an old folk house that has been around since the Edo period, and makes use of the buildings from the good old days. In addition to the "Edo no Kura-yado", "Old Japanese-style inn", and "Sake Inn Yamadaya", which can be rented out as a whole to suit the number of guests and style, there are five guest rooms that just opened in March 2023. You can choose from a wide variety of facilities, including a fully equipped "Honjin".

The facility retains the atmosphere of an old folk house, and is fully equipped with facilities such as an observation bath, sky deck, starry sky terrace, courtyard, kitchen, and beds.

Depart for Jogashima

Let's finally set sail for Jogashima. For those who want to enjoy activities on Jogashima, there is the “Jogashima Ferry Boat Sanshiro.”
Sanshiro is a ferry with a long history of operation, and visits “Urari”, Jogashima's offshore fishing pond “J's Fishing”, and “Hakushu Hien” at the foot of the Jogashima Ohashi Bridge every day between 10:00 and 16:00.
It's a short boat trip that takes about 5 minutes per section, and for those who want to explore Jogashima, we recommend a one-day unlimited ride ticket. It is convenient to access the Jogashima Lighthouse and the Jogashima Shopping Street.

Stroll through the spectacular Jogashima Park

Jogashima Park, located at the southernmost tip of the Miura Peninsula, is a popular photo spot that is visited by many people regardless of the season.
There are hiking trails within the park, as well as the Awasaki Lighthouse, an observation deck with a great view, and a large plaza where you can fully enjoy the seascape. In addition, from fall to spring, you can see the prefecturally designated natural monuments, the sea cormorant, common cormorant, and black heron. In addition to flying flowers, hydrangeas are in full bloom in the summer, Hachijousuki in the fall, and approximately 300,000 daffodils are in full bloom in the winter. From the Sea Cormorant Observation Deck, which overlooks the sea cormorant breeding grounds, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the steep cliffs and the sea.

Proceeding to the west side of Jogashima Park, the area around Akabane Beach is covered in cliffs that have been eroded by waves and wind. The area is surrounded by nature as far as the eye can see, something that is hard to experience in everyday life, so it is a popular spot for commemorative photos with the sea in the background.

As you go down the stairs on the promenade, you can get a close-up view of Umanose Cave, a sea-eroded cave that was created by erosion from the sea over many years.
You will be overwhelmed by the mysterious beauty of nature, the power of the crashing waves, and the magnificent view of the ocean.

For lunch in Jogashima, we recommend "Jogashima Shopping Street." The surrounding area is lined with traditional seafood restaurants, souvenir shops, rice cracker shops, and sweets shops. You can choose from a variety of types and sizes of the popular tuna bowl, so choose the one that suits your taste!

“Urari Marche” has a lively fish market that sells tuna, local fish, processed seafood products, and Miura brand products, as well as fresh vegetables and processed products grown in Miura. There is a vegetable shop. In addition to souvenirs, there are also plenty of snacks that you can eat on the spot, so be sure to try them out.
